Lemonstand App Site Sync & Bespoke Modules

The Brief

Hamilton & Young, based on the Edinburgh Royal Mile required a specialised eCommerce system to work across two websites. One site for wholesale (Hamilton & Young) and the other for retail customers (Historic Connections). The products needed to be the same across both sites, but there were three different pricing levels to consider (RRP, Retail and Wholesale). Further to this, the company didn’t want to replicate work by having to upload the products to each site individually. Stock control between the sites was another challenge to consider when making the integration.

What happened next

We chose an eCommerce platform where all the products could be uploaded to the wholesale website and then have three different prices associated with the product. The wholesale website would show RRP prices until an authorised wholesaler logged in, and the prices would be displayed as wholesale.  The wholesale website would then replicate all stock information to the retail website, but the main price used was their own retail price and not the RRP price.

If a sale takes place on either the retail or wholesale website, the stock levels are automatically updated requiring no further input.

Notes from our Technical Director

When we started working with the client, they really needed to give their wholesale customers the ability to order online. The ability to save them time and money by connecting the eCommerce systems has been incredibly successful.

We used a technology called LemonStand for the eCommerce system as it provided a very modular approach, which made it easy to write bespoke code within the framework. We have written several bespoke modules for LemonStand including a PDF Module and a Payment Integration Module for HSBC.
